Today, little spider, I’m sorry you died,
I dropped you from my window, and hoped that you’d fly.
I thought you’d float and land unhurt,
On the ground below, fall down, and back to earth.
You were doing no harm, just sitting still,
I threw you to the floor from my windowsill.
You didn’t deserve a slap, or a smack or a squash,
So I opened the window and outwards I tossed.
I thought you’d survive it, you’re light after all,
But you never had a chance of surviving that fall.
Two stories up, for you like a tower,
Perhaps you landed in the basket of flowers.
I’d just like to say, I’m sorry again,
Until tomorrow, I didn’t mean to kill you, my eight legged friend.
