Today it was 28 the hottest day of the year but I didn’t get to appreciate it because I was hungover and wanted to sleep all day.

I woke up at 6, still tasting like vodka, after getting all of 2 hours sleep. I was supposed to be going for a run at 8, but I sent a text delaying it till 10 and went back to sleep. If I had’ve been going on my own, I definitely wouldn’t’ve gone, but I’d planned to go with my one-day brother-in-law, and I didn’t want to cancel, so I just postponed.

As it happened, going out a bit later meant that we were going out when it was a bit hotter too. And I ended up running through town coated in sweat with the sleeves of my Harry Potter t-shirt rolled up. It was a good look.

(I don’t know why that picture is sideways, and I can’t be arsed to figure out how to rotate it, so just rotate your phone or your neck or something)

It was a hard run. I pulled my groin very early on, but was able to run through it. I think it was just dehydration from the vast volume of vodka that I consumed last night (it wasn’t that vast but alliteration is fun)

Naturally, as a way of getting over my hangover I started drinking cider at about 3pm- Aldi’s finest own brand cider. It was my one-day-brother-in-law’s birthday BBQ-type-thing. Hair of the dog and all that.

Although it was 28 degrees outside we spent the first hour or so indoors avoiding the sun and watching Shrek because we’re classically British and complain about it being too hot when the sun comes out. At some point after my first cider, I went upstairs in their house to take a nap. I was drained.

So, on the hottest day of the year, I was asleep and hungover. A bit of a waste.

At about 5pm when the shade came over, we all moved outside and made the most of the evening.

Until tomorrow, and that included a little bit more cider.
