Today I actually finished reading a book for the first time in months. I’m fairly sure I took this book with me when I went skiing in March, so that shows just how long it’s taken for me to finish it.
Actually, y’know what, scrap that. I’m going to be completely straight here and say that I’ve not actually finished reading it yet. I’ve got like twenty pages left, but I wanted to get this blog written first because I know that I’m going to fall asleep as soon as I do finish the book. I’m running on about 2 and a half hours sleep, and I’m knackered. I don’t know why but I just couldn’t get to sleep last night, and when I did, I couldn’t stay asleep.
So, as soon as I finish this book I’m gonna collapse on to my pillow.
But I will finish it. Just pretend that I’ve already finished it.
It’s actually quite a good book to read over a protracted period of time, because it’s one book split up into five short stories, and each short story gives a different perspective on the same event, so it’s easy to remember what has happened previously.
It’s called ‘Five Rivers Met On A Wooden Plain’ and it’s about how five lives intersect and overlap based around this one car accident. It’s pretty good. It’s well written because the writer has had to give five different voices to the same story, each with a different back story and subplot.
I can’t really give a comprehensive review because I’ve not finished it yet, but just pretend that I have for the sake of this blog post. I’ll’ve finished it before I wake up tomorrow. Depending on how soon after I hit publish you read this post I’ll have either finished it, or not. How very, very exciting.
I’ve got one short story to go and then I’m done. That’s a big deal, because I’ve not read a book in so long. I used to read a book a week, but now I’m distracted by various other… distractions.
I’m hoping finishing this book will encourage me to pick up another one. I already know which one from my shelf that I want to read. It’s called “The Five People You Meet In Heaven” and sounds like it should be a sequel of the one I have just finished/am about to finish.
Anyway. I think you get the point.
Until tomorrow, I’m off to finish it, and then to sleep.
