Today I got back on the proverbial horse, and took it out for a spin. I’m not sure if that turn of phrase works quite the way I’ve used it, but never mind. Basically, I went for a run today.
It’s been a while. I’ve not really been running much this year because A) it’s cold, and B) I don’t wanna (mainly because A) it’s cold).
Today though, I felt a slight twinge of motivation in my legs, and when that turned out to be cramp I decided that I really needed to get out and start running again. My legs are forgetting how to function.
It was not quite a baptism of fire, more… slightly humid and sweaty Christening.
I am noticeably slower now than I was the last time I went running, but speed was not really the point of today. The point was more to illustrate the fact that it can be done, and that it should be done.
I’ve said a lot recently that I don’t really enjoy going for a run, I enjoy having been for a run. That slight leg-ache is oddly enjoyable, because it’s a physical reminder that you’ve achieved something with the day.
Until tomorrow, or maybe it’s just cramp.
