Today I had Sri Lankan street food curry for lunch, and Nutella on toast for dinner. I feel like that really highlights the disparity between the food that I cook, and the food that I buy. To be fair, I did spend like twenty minutes walking around a supermarket trying to decide what I wanted to cook myself for dinner tonight, but because I was still too full from lunch, I couldn’t bring myself to think about it. That’s why it took so long. Eventually I picked up some stuff with the intention of making a Chinese stir fry (because why not have Curry AND Chinese in the same day?) But then, after I got home and it got to dinner time I just still wasn’t hungry, so I didn’t cook.
That Sri Lankan curry really filled me up. It was odd, because it came with a sort of bread/rice thing, and it was hella heavy. I’ve spoken about this before, but every time I go to a curry house I order something that I’ve never had before, and today I ordered Lamb Kothu Poratta without really knowing what that meant. But that’s part of the fun. I ordered some special fried rice as well but the waiter informed me that it didn’t need rice, because the dish came with its own side.
Again, I’m still not entirely sure what it was, but it tasted good and I’m still full now, so it must have done the trick.
This is slightly off topic, but I even tried salmon for the first time in a long time (possibly ever) today. Didn’t like it. Won’t be having it again in a hurry.
Anyway. Six hours later and I went to cook my stir fry but was still really not hungry. So, two hours later I made some Nutella on toast and called that dinner.
Until tomorrow, it’s been a weird food day.
