Today I finally won a round of golf on this golf holiday on the Costa Del Golf. Golf golf golf. We played the Atalya New Course.
I bloody deserved the win, too. I played play yesterday and probably did enough to win, but I didn’t. I could put together a few good holes but had too many wayward shots to put together a decent round. Today though, my entire round was good.
I said that I wanted to break 90 by the end of the holiday, and I did that today. 89, or +18 over meant I played exactly to my handicap, and considering it was a brand new (to me) and difficult course, I was very happy with how it turned out.
Today I was just still competing in every hole, and still scoring points. Rather than sporadically chipping in with a point here or there like I have been for the past few days.
I’m really pleased with my round, have you noticed? We had to work hard to take the overall win, though. Because of the handicap system and the stroke indexes of the course, it worked out that the team we were playing against had a shot on us on every other hole, so we had to graft harder than we thought we would’ve for the win. In fact, it came right down to the 18th for it to be decided.
I’d lost both of the last two rounds this holiday, and I was determined not to make it 3 from 3. 1 out of 3 is still poor but is infinitely better than 0 out of 3, which it very nearly could’ve been.
I came wanting to break 90 at least once and win two out of three matches. In the end, I broke 90 and won one. So, almost.
Until tomorrow, I wish I was playing again tomorrow.
