Today I booked my train tickets for another weekend away. I’m apparently very rarely in town at the weekend any more. I think I’ve been away for six out of the last seven weekends — which is nice but, y’know, expensive.
This weekend I’m going to London for a work reunion/Hallowe’en night out. I don’t intend to dress up, partly because none of the other boys are going to dress up, but mostly because I really, really don’t want to.
I intended to get the train to Reading on Friday night and stay at a friend’s, then grab the train to London together in the morning, except that doubled the ticket price and, after the aforementioned explurgent* weekends, it was probably a good idea to save the cash where I could.
*(I know that’s not a word, but I think it sounds like it would be a good word, so I’m going to go ahead and use it freely as an almost mix between “splurge” and “exuberant” because that makes perfect sense to me)
After this weekend, though, I don’t have plans for a while, and perhaps that’s for the best.
Until tomorrow, this is going to be another expensive one.
