April 11th 2019

Today we went to my Grandparent’s house to celebrate my Grandad’s 81st 55th 63rd 39th birthday. If you ask him, he’ll tell you he started ageing backwards when he got to 60. That makes him now younger than my mother, which is quite impressive really.

For dinner, we completely loaded ourselves up with fish and chips. Between us there was more bread and fish than at thing Jesus “did” that time. And we probably had more curry sauce too, because I think that particular condiment was invented far after biblical times.

Most importantly for grandad, though, there was a huge cake. The fish and chips is just a precursor to the main event, as far as he’s concerned. He’s got a hell of a sweet tooth, that man. Mum made a red velvet birthday cake and adorned it with various chocolatey bits, and it ended up being too rich for basically everyone but grandad. I couldn’t finish mine, but he went back for seconds.

What a bloke.

Until tomorrow, happy birthday Grandad.
