April 1st 2021
Today I’m sorry to say this, but for the first time since May 5th 2020, I didn’t run a 5k today.
Sorry to let you down. Sorry to break the streak.
Lol April Fools!!! I actually ran 12k.
So yeah, I didn’t run 5k. Instead, I met my work friends and their dogs and I ran 12k with a dog strapped to my waist.
Having a dog on your waist makes running surprisingly effortless. There’s some science involved that I couldn’t quite figure out, but I guess it’s like being towed by a car or something, except the car towing you is small and beautiful and looks kinda like a fox.
So the 12k was the furthest I’ve ran at once in well over a year, and it took almost 2 hours, but the combination of the dogs and company made it feel like it was over in no time.
Honestly, there was a part of me that felt it was necessary to come home after that run and do another 5k just to continue the “five a day” streak, but I still think that counts. I did run 5k today.
Until tomorrow, it was just double the distance and dog-assisted.
