Today I started learning Python. Python is a programming language that I’ve been thinking about learning for a while, for no particular reason other than for something to do.
There are some ways that it can help me at work, mostly with data analysis and automation of tasks, but really it just kinda interests me.
I don’t feel like I’ve really learnt anything in a while. I’m pretty happy with the point I’m at in my career, but I’m also super insecure, unsure, and kinda lost by it. Also I was pretty bored this evening so it seemed an appropriate time to start.
The internet is great. You can basically teach yourself anything. The internet is full of resources, courses, videos, interactive exercises, and examples for pretty much any skill. Some of it is free. You some of it is paid. But it’s all there.
I’m messing about with a free Python course on Codeacademy, and I’m interested to find out how long I stick with it before I get bored. That’s usually how it goes. I have a lifetime membership to Rosetta Stone because I wanted to learn German one time. And did that go?
Nicht so gut.
So I’m not sure how far this will go, but it was at least an interesting way to spend an evening.
Until tomorrow, I’m a coderman now.
