April 30th 2022
Today I became a member of a golf club, and immediately posted my lowest round of the year.
I shot 88, largely thanks to an absolute charge on the back nine. I shot 49 on the front, and 39 on the back, carding 3 pars and a birdie in five holes.
That’s not bad at all considering I started off with back to back double bogeys.
On hole 7, we played through the group which had been holding us up all round, and the ability to play consistent shots just opened up my game.
So, eighty eight was my first card as a member of Rodway Hill Golf Club.
I’ll admit that it’s not the hardest, most interesting, or even nicest course I’ve played, but it’s a good price (£350 for the year), close to work, and a course of appropriate difficulty for Dan and I to improve on, before we move to the big boy courses next year.
There is, however, one fatal downside to the club:
There is not a single beer on tap in the clubhouse which is worth drinking. The only beer on tap was Carslberg Pilsner. Including bottles, though, there were 7 cider options.
Until tomorrow, I guess I’m a cider drinker again now.
