August 20th 2020

Today I woke up to the news that my Great Uncle Ken died last night.

It wasn’t out of the blue. He’d been in pallative care for a little while.

We’d only ever see him a few times a year, but he’d be there for every major occasion. Christmas, Easter, Birthdays and Weddings.

He shared a similar trait to my Grandad in simultaneously claiming he never drinks, whilst never refusing a glass of port.

I’ll remember him on boxing day, huddled over his little handheld radio listening to the Swindon game through a tinny headset.

I’ll remember the Friends VHS tapes he’d give us each Christmas.

He was a kind, gentle man, and my Grandma’s last remaining sibling.

Until tomorrow, bye Ken.
