Noncontinuous

July 11th 2022

Today, on the hottest day of the year, I somehow went for two runs. I’m not entirely sure how. Or why.

I mean in some ways it’d be generous to call them runs. There was running involved, surely, but it was non-continuous, staggered, broken, and other similar synonyms.

I’m really not sure why I went at lunchtime. I think I just wanted to get out of the house and away from my desk. I wanted to put a podcast on and be in the Sun.

I did my old faithful route, and ran between the shadows. I walked in the shade to keep cool, and then sprinted to the next bit.

It took me a long time. I had to go home and nap after.

And then, somehow, this evening I went again. Jim knocked on my door and he wanted to run and I didn’t really get much say on it. There was a lot more walking this time though. It was maybe 20% running. But I was still wearing running shorts and that’s like most of the work.

Until tomorrow, I’m sleepy.
